ARTIFICIAL GRASS MAINTENANCE SERVICE

Artificial grass maintenance service
CARING FOR YOUR NEW ARTIFICIAL GRASS
Artificial grass is a fantastic low maintenance alternative to natural lawns, however there are a few simple steps you need to take to ensure that your new artificial lawn continues to look as great all year round.

General maintenance tips

Remove organic matter from the surface, particularly fallen leaves. Build-up of debris may affect the drainage of the surface and also encourage weed growth. Debris can be removed with a stiff garden brush or in dry conditions a leaf blower can be used. Some weeds may seed themselves on top of your new lawn, however these can be removed by hand or spot-sprayed with a general weed killer. Sometimes in shady, damp areas moss can grow if left unchecked however it can be removed with a water-based moss killer then swept out of the turf. Your lawn will benefit from occasional brushing with a stiff garden brush to ‘freshen’ the surface and to ensure the pile surface remains upright.

Pet mess

Remove pet soiling immediately otherwise the debris will compost into the surface and will be difficult to remove. We recommend owners establish a pet toilet area where mild detergents can be used to help manage smells. During hot, dry spells pet urine should be rinsed off the grass using hot tap water and a weak solution of washing up liquid. Pet urine will not discolour your artificial lawn however if left during these conditions it may start to smell. We can supply a specialist enzyme based pet urine remover should you require it.

Stain removal

Most stains can be removed quickly by rinsing your lawn using hot tap water and a solution of washing up liquid. Heavy oil marks can be removed using mineral spirits and a cloth. Do not use bleach on the artificial grass.

Some items should not be used on your new artificial lawn

Do not allow hot objects such as barbeques, fire pits, cigarettes and fireworks on your artificial lawn. Although grass has a fire-retardancy safety rating, open flames and hot temperatures will melt the grass pile causing permanent damage.
Do not use vehicles on your artificial lawn as this may damage the surface.
Do not use paints or chemicals near to your artificial lawn, unless the surface is covered over (e.g. painting or treating adjacent buildings or fences).
